Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang came to rescue Arsenal to make it 1-1 against Manchester United as two former Premier League giants played out a rather lackluster match and shared a point each.
Aubameyang scored again for the Gunners at the 58th
minute of the game. His side was trailing by one goal scored by Scott McTominay in the 45th
Minute. All the pundits including former Manchester United great Ryan Giggs was praising Aubameyang for his superb form and impeccable technique. It was a good pass but still had a lot of things to do, particularly against a goalkeeper like D. de Gea. He took the shot perfectly to beat a goalkeeper of that class.
It has been reported that Arsenal might pay attention to the offers for Aubameyang, the joint Golden Boot winner at Premier League in this summer as they look forward to improving their transfer budget. Manchester United has shown an interest in this 30-year-old striker. However, Parlour had said that it is going to be madness for Arsenal if they sell off another star footballer to Manchester United.
However, the Gunner has admitted that they would let Aubameyang go if it means bringing in Zaha as his replacement. The twenty-year-old player has been associated with a move to a club which he has supported since he was a boy. However, they are far away from meeting the £100m of Crystal Palace in their present budget which is reported to be the only £40m. When Parlour was asked who he would like to have at Arsenal, he said that if the age is considered, there is no doubt, Zaha would be the right choice as he has got several years left in him.
This is one of the biggest mismatches of the Euro 2020 qualification campaign, as the defending champions France take on Moldova in an away match. Moldova are the minnows in the group H and they will primarily focus on damage limitation when they take on the defending champions. Even though Moldova have sounded confident ahead of the match, it is expected that they will defend with 11 players behind the ball. Moldova manager Alexandru Spiridon has already spoken about the attractiveness of playing against players like Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe, but the players are likely to make the mistake of giving too much respect to the opposition.
Meanwhile, France midfielder Paul Pogba has tried to downplay the lack of strength within the opposition by saying that the opposition are capable of creating a surprise. Les Bleus won the World Cup just under a year ago and they still have the same nucleus of the squad. There is even improvement within the squad with the likes of Kylian Mbappe showing much better form, while Paul Pogba has been a player rejuvenated in the last few months. Hugo Lloris is one of the disappointing names due to his lack of consistency. Moldova should not present any challenge to France, who are likely to score a couple of goals. Meanwhile, France can be expected to keep a clean sheet with the kind of dominance that they have on the ball.
For upcoming few months, the South African Football Association also called as SAFA has made public its recent fixtures. According to the release, the upcoming week is going to be really a hectic period for the national teams as preparation for FIFA World Cup Banyana Banyana will be taking place in Cape Town.
After returning from recently held Women’s AFCON and showing an impressive performance, on Thursday, the team Banyana Banyana has a match with Sweden at Athlone Stadium. The team faced the Netherlands in the opening match of Winnie Mandela International Challenge, which took place January 19 at 15:00.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the leading scorer in the English top tier at the moment, but he doesn’t think he has performed to the maximum of his capabilities yet.
Aubameyang’s consistency in the last few matches has been absolutely phenomenal. Out of the 10 times that he has targeted the net, he has been able to find the back of the net on all 10 occasions. For a player who has been this consistent to think that he can get even better is a dangerous sign for all the opposition teams who have to lock horns with Arsenal in the coming weeks.
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has stressed that Paul Pogba played a fundamental role for France during their World Cup success in Russia. The Manchester United star has come for plenty of criticism from the supporters for his inconsistent performances but he has nevertheless got the backing of Les Bleus and Spurs captain Lloris.
Speaking ahead of the United game, Lloris said: “We showed that French players have character and that we’re strong together. If you’re not strong together, you fall at the first hurdle. There are players who were revelations in that regard. For example, Paul. People have always been telling him to focus on the team, and he couldn’t have done it any better than during the World Cup. He was at the team’s service from the start to the end and was rewarded for that. We were all rewarded.”
England defender John Stones has been doing well in Russia. Already the Manchester City man has scored two crucial goals while playing well in the heart of the defence. Former Manchester City star Yaya Toure has asked that the player develops “a strong mentality” in order to be one of the greatest defenders.
Toure said modern football required ball playing defenders unlike when he started when LilianThuram, Rafael Marquez and CarlesPuyolused to very aggressive. He praised the modern skills of Stones but admitted that the current mentality of the player is lower than expected and this affects him when he makes errors.
There are reports that Chelsea could get Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubemeyang for £70 million this summer.
Chelsea are desperately in need of a top striker as Diego Costa is set to exit the club following his altercation with Coach Antonio Conte last term.
The Premier League champions require a proven goalscorer as they are set to compete in continental tournament aside defending their league title. There are other domestic commitments as well.
The Blues have been linked with a move for Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata and Torino striker Andrea Belotti. However, after losing RomeluLukaku to a stealth move by rivals Manchester United, Conte is keen on acquiring a proven player.
While the three options are decent, it seems Aubameyang would provide a better fit. The Gabon international pipped Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski to the top scorer award in the German Bundesliga last term. He scored 31 goals for Dortmund to earn the tag. In the top leagues in Europe, only five time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi bettered his tally in the league. (more…)
Pierre Aubameyang is a 27 year old Gabonese player of Borussia Dortmund who has been taking the Bundesliga by storm after scoring 28 goals in 30 league appearances.
That’s the amount of goals that he has scored in the season of 2016-17.
During the previous season of 2015-16, Pierre Aubameyang was also very efficient when it came to scoring goals as the French born Gabonese player found the back of the net on 25 occasions in 30 Bundesliga appearances.
It´s because of all these impressive performances that Aubameyang has been displaying for the past few seasons that he has been attracting the attention of various top European clubs including: Ac.Milan, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City.
The contract of Pierre Aubameyang sees him remaining with Borussia Dortmund at least until 2020 but there has been a significantly large amount of rumors emerging claiming that Pierre could be making a move to another club in a few months when the summer transfer window opens up on July 1 of 2017. Bayern Munich have been picking up the German Bundesliga title for years.
The German champions are chasing a record straight fifth victory this season. RB Leipzig is the closest competition this term, and they were handed a favour on Saturday after Schalke 04 held Bayern to a 1-1 draw. The second-placed team could reduce the gap to one point if they win their clash.
Robert Lewandowski gave Bayern an early lead against Schalke but defender Naldo equalized in the 13th minute. The Bavarians had to work hard at maintaining the scoreline on the skipper Philipp Lahm’s 500th game for the club.
“It was a tough game because Schalke played well. We started well but were not so compact, also in midfield, and our two lines were too far apart from one another. We could only increase the pressure slightly at the end, but it was not enough,” Coach Carlo Ancelotti said after the game.
Leipzig would not have it easy when they face Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. Fitness worries and suspension would make it an even more difficult task with top scorer Timo Werner, Diego Demme, Marcel Sabitzer, and Emil Forsberg ruled out. (more…)
